Dom Raja: The Untouchable Gatekeeper of Heaven | 101 Heartland

Every year, over 30,000 bodies are burnt on the ghats of Varanasi. The last rites are carried out by the Doms - an untouchable caste, said to be blessed by Lord Shiva to guarantee 'mukti' or salvation. 
Every evening at 7pm, the evening prayers begin on the banks of the Ganga. Just a little distance away, the Dom Raja ends all prayers, surrounded by death.
